Budva Riviera

The Budva Riviera is a 35 km stretch of stunning Adriatic coastline where steep limestone cliffs shelter magnificent sandy beaches and beautiful coves. The glittering Adriatic sea is renowned for its clean turquoise water, and Montenegro now has the Blue Flag award for 15 of its beaches, indicating that they have all passed strict water quality checks and stringent environmental criteria. Several of these Blue Flag beaches are along this part of the coast.

The beaches of the Budva Riviera offer wonderful snorkeling and sailing opportunities and during the summer months there are boat trips along the coast and great range of watersports on offer. For something adventurous, try paragliding from the mountainside above the coast - an incredible experience!

On the cliffs above the Adriatic are numerous monasteries to explore. The Monastery of Rezevici, situated on a picturesque hillside near Petrovac, is one that encourages visitors. Built in the 13th century, this monastery has been plundered and destroyed many times but some beautiful 17th and 18th century frescoes have survived. The complex is now listed as a cultural-historic monument and is under legal protection.
